Cupric Sulfate Pentahydrate, also known as Copper(II) Sulfate Pentahydrate, Sulfate Salt Of Copper, Roman vitriol, and Blue vitriol, is the pentahydrate of copper(2+) sulfate having the chemical formula CuSO4-5H2Oor CuH10O9S. It appears as blue odorless crystals, lumps or powder and is moderately water and acid soluble at ambient conditions. When heated to decomposition, it emits toxic fumes of sulfur oxides. It can be prepared by dissolution of oxides, carbonates, or hydroxides in sulfuric acid solutions. It is also formed as a byproduct of copper electrolysis and etching process. Lab grade chemicals possess reasonable purity but do not comply with any official standard for quality or purity like the ACS Grade, the USP Grade, or the FCC Grade. The Lab Grade is also known as Laboratory Reagent (LR) and Chemically Pure (CP). Our Cupric Sulfate Powder, Pentahydrate, Lab Grade is recommended for educational institutes, research labs, and commercial applications.
